UPDATED: Electric Daisy Carnival will not be coming to Winston Farm says Saugerties supervisor
Back in July, Insomniac presented an Electric Daisy Carnival concept to the Saugerties board with the intent of hosting an EDC NY at the site of the 1994 Woodstock Arts & Music Festival at Winston Farms. Conceived as a 3-day camping festival with a limited attendance to 75,000 people, the powers that be on the Saugerties board have denied Insomniac's request to expand their brand to one of the most iconic festival grounds in the United States. According to town Supervisor, Kelly Myers, the board voted on Wednesday to suspend the request, citing that local fire and ambulance services did not feel they could adequately provide services for that sort of event.
Pasquale Rotella announces EDC NY to be held on Memorial Day Weekend 2014
After petitioning the town board in Saugerties NY to allow Insomniac to host a festival on the grounds of Woodstock '94, Insominac CEO Pasquale Rotella took to Facebook today to announce that EDC NY would be moving both its date and location. Now scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2014, New York's version of the Electric Daisy Carnival will receive a significant upgrade, taking placing over 3-days with camping and Las Vegas's owl as the center of attraction. While an official location has not been set, recent reports would indicate a possible Woodstock home for the Northeast's Electric Daisy Carnival.
The history of Coachella Music Festival: From rocky starts to record-setting sales
If you've ever attended Coachella Arts and Music Festival, you need to thank Eddie Vedder. In 1993, Pearl Jam threw a concert that would inadvertently spark the birth for Coachella Arts and Music Festival. As part of a boycott against Ticketmaster, their management chose a venue in one of America’s hottest and driest locations; one with an undeveloped desert lawn that was several hours driving from any major population centers – Indio’s Empire Polo Club. As Pearl Jam performed in front of 25,000 fans, they proved Indio befitting for a large music festival. Since then the festival has gone through a a variety of growing pains, from struggling during early financial troubles to becoming the highest grossing event of its kind.
