Pasquale Rotella responds to deadmau5’s criticism in AMA, ‘I respect his art form. It would be great if he would respect mine.’
On the eve of Insomniac flagship festival, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Pasquale Rotella opened up to fans in an intimate AMA on Reddit. In addition to talks about EDC Texas (It's in the plans but they are still looking for a venue,) and how to make it in the dance music industry, Rotella also addressed the criticism he's face from electronic music's most outspoken entity, deadmau5. In a recent interview with The Standard, deadmau5 took shots at the festival promoters, stating 'It’s another thing I can’t f*****’ stand, you know? Festivals are being branded bigger than the acts, which is totally backwards in my head.' "From his comments, I’m assuming he’d rather people stand there and gawk at the artist for an hour-and-a-half, but that’s not where I come from, nor where I want things to go." Rotella responded in the Reddit AMA, noting dance music is about dancing and getting lost in the moment, not spending an hour and a half staring at a DJ.
