Madonna enters the studio with Avicii for her forthcoming album
Rewind to 2012 when Madonna graced the Ultra Music Festival main stage as the surprise guest: The pop maven’s feature became an unforgettable dance music moment of the year when she played emcee by introducing Avicii for his headlining set with a controversial opening statement before proceeding to perform their collaboration, “Girl Gone Wild” alongside him.
According to Madonna’s recent Instagram post, we may see the two reunite again soon. After a quick spelling mishap, the celebrated singer posted a glamorous selfie shot captioned, “On my way to the studio to work with Avicii!”
Madonna is no stranger to channeling electronic music influences into her work. For her 2012 album MDNA, the pop icon tapped into producers Benny Benassi and Martin Solveig for several of her track listings while also blatantly using her album title as word play and referencing the drug MDMA in some of her lyrics.
While the Instagram remains the only preview of what Madonna and Avicii have in store for the future, earlier in February, Madonna confirmed with The Canadian Press that her new album is currently in-the-making. Though she was tight-lipped regarding collaborations for the statement, it is safe to say listeners can expect to hear Avicii’s musical influences on her record to come.
