Sweater Beats stuns with his Cloud City EP [Free Download]
Over the past year, New York-based producer Antonio Cuna, aka Sweater Beats, has been gaining the attention of high-profile music figures like Diplo while touring with heavyweights like Flume and rap sensation Chance the Rapper. His sound can be described as a conglomerate of future bass, trap, and glitch hop that gravitates vibes from every corner. He’s just released his next EP, Cloud City, via record label Huh What Where and the collection of originals can be summed up in two words: next level.
The poster child track “Cloud City” opens up the EP in full force with a whirlwind of heavy, uplifting bass sequences and nebulous synth patterns. The next track, “Rain Dance,” alludes listeners to expect a softer sound from its name, but Sweater Beats arranges a trap breakbeat, some Flume-esque vocal chops, and East Asian percussion instruments to keep the energy flowing full force. Quickly changing the pace of the EP, Cuna comes home strong but slow-paced with the last two tracks “Dark Matter (ft. a l l i e)” and “Golden Sun.” He reverts back to pounding, euphoric bass and gracefully trickling piano keys to bring together this killer EP. Watch out for Sweater Beats as he brings the feels to HARD Day of the Dead this Halloween weekend.
