Listen to Chet Faker and Marcus Marr’s new song, ‘Birthday Card’

Chet Faker fans are patiently awaiting December 4: the release date of his forthcoming Work EP in conjunction with fellow Aussie musician, Marcus Marr. The first taste we received of the EP was “Trouble With Us,” a funk-infused disco jam that showed us a different side to Faker’s soft tendencies. To show off the second of four tracks off Work, the duo slip back into Chet Faker’s comfort zone with “Birthday Card.”

Clocking in at nearly eight minutes, the single has Marcus Marr providing a light yet brisk percussion pattern and whining guitar licks as Faker’s soothing vocals and resilient keyboard chords shine as they always do. With a dreamy piece of soothing R&B-infused house to offset the jouncing sound of “Trouble With Us,” fans of both Aussie beatsmiths will be wondering what personalities the last two singles off Work will showcase when release day comes.
