Watch Daft Punk’s Coachella 2006 performance ahead of ‘Daft Punk Unchained’ premiere
Hervé Martin Delpierr’s documentary Daft Punk Unchained finally makes its way to televisions tonight on Showtime at 9pm EST/PST. To prepare for the premiere, the director exchanged words with Rolling Stone about his first encounter with the duo, and details about the documentary, including the level of Daft Punk’s involvement.
According to Delpierr, Paul, the duo’s manager, said that he was allowed to make his movie, so long as he did not “destroy the magic of the robots.” In fact, Delpierr also notes that Daft Punk saw the movie for the first time at the initial public showing.
Before fans watch Delpierr try his hand at “unmasking the robots,” they can watch a quick clip of Daft Punk’s performance at Coachella 2006, which features their ex-manager and a music journalist retelling the debut of the infamous pyramid stage set, which had the largest production value then, way ahead of its time.
