Watch This: Family Guy takes aim at Daft Punk again in recent episode
Dance music and the misunderstood delineation of the respective roles of DJ and producer are often lampooned in popular culture, but iconic groups like Daft Punk have usually been exempt.
In a recent Family Guy clip from the episode ‘An App A Day,’ however, Peter mistakes the song streaming from a bar’s jukebox — the robots’ legendary 1997 track “Around The World” — for Billy Joel’s “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song).” Quagmire, usually not the voice of reason, corrects the group, but no one feels confident about the truth until Cleveland uses Shazam to confirm the assertions.
This isn’t the first time that Daft Punk has been a source of satire for the Fox show. In another recent episode, the duo won a Grammy for pressing the ‘demo’ button on a Casio keyboard.
