Premiere: Chicola – Velvet Afternoon (Karmon Remix)

Chicola capped off an already powerful 2017 with his debut artist album Could Heaven Be, out on Lost&Found. The expansive endeavor earned the Israeli producer widespread praise, specifically for his willingness to explore all facets of his artistry, and in the sentimental tale he told through each production and its placement.

Now, a few choice singles have undergone reconstruction, courtesy of Johannes Brecht, Karmon, and Ruede Hagelstein — each of which brought a fresh take on their targets to the table. Beyond that, Chicola’s choice of artists goes outside the confines of his Lost&Found family, adding a new and innovative dimension to the label.

Karmon’s remix of “Velvet Afternoon” caught our attention at Dancing Astronaut for its careful design and scintillating grooves. The Diynamic veteran ups the energy level of the original, transforming it into a club cut that inspires movement. Additionally, the producer conjures visions of exotic locations by way of mysterious melodic arrangement, a steady bassline, and lush percussion.

Order a copy of the re-work, slated for a July 27 release, here.
