Charlotte de Witte packages ‘Formula’ EP with live ‘New Form’ broadcast from Italian racetrack
On Charlotte de Witte‘s own KNTXT comes her pulsating, three-track Formula EP. In collaboration with F1 Racing and Beatport, the queen of techno touched down at Italy’s Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello racetrack on April 29 to debut Formula in the context of a 90-minute New Form stint that featured a copious number of unreleased IDs and tracks from KENTØ, Lukas Firtzer, STEEN, Age Of Love, Giovanni Carozza, David Temessi, and VCL.
As she took the stage to broadcast the fourth installment in her New Form mix series, de Witte underscored the EP’s acidic grooves and emphatic baselines as a Ferrari SF90 Stradale raced past her at 136 mph throughout the entirety of the set. With her canny tracklist selection and stunning DJ performance de Witte once again asserted her reign in the immersive territories of techno.
Speaking on the ideas and events that inspired the EP, de Witte shared,
“I’ve always been fascinated by the high adrenaline racing world. Rapid movements, living in the moment, racing through life, eyes on the future. As far as concepts go for an EP, this is one of my favorite ones so far.”
“After rediscovering DJ Visage’s ‘Schumacher’ track, I was inspired to use unconventional racing sounds and incorporate them into my productions. I’ve always been a huge fan of adrenaline and speed. Whether riding motorcycles or downhill skiing, the thrill-seeking aspect of these activities has always captivated me. It is the same emotion that drives me in my performances before a massive audience. As a Belgian, F1 has a special meaning in our culture, with the iconic annual Spa-Francorchamps Grand Prix.”
Formula follows the Belgian producer’s Rave On Time EP, released in September 2020. Stream both Formula and New Form IV below.
