Hardwell, Quintino uncover door number three on bigroom-techno reunion, ‘Sloopkogel’

It’s time to step through Hardwell‘s third door. With the one-month mark having just passed until the Revealed Recordings founder makes his way back to Bayfront Park to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his grand return, he’s reaching the midway point of his collaborative EP. Two of the six doors had already been matched with keys—”Balança” with VINNE and “Twisted” with Will Sparks—since February 10, and the man behind Dancing Astronaut‘s 2022 Album of the Year is ready to unlock another. And that’s “Sloopkogel” with Quintino.

For those that aren’t fluent in Dutch, Hardwell confirmed during an AMA in the Revealed Discord that it translates to “wrecking ball” and not the other meaning that had been floating around on social media. And for those that were in tune with Quintino’s set at Tomorrowland Winter—just 48 hours before Hardwell reappeared in downtown Miami for the first time since 2018—some may have been exposed to new Hardwell music before his comeback had even been realized, with an early version of “Sloopkogel” sneaking its way into the tracklist. It marks the fifth time that Hardwell and Quintino have crossed collaborative lines—following “Baldadig” in 2016, “Woest” in 2017, their co-remix of “Mi Gente” in 2017, and “Reckless” in 2019—and it’s a dead-on split down the middle of bigroom and techno that takes its title meaning seriously.

While there’s no confirmation on the release schedule for the remaining three doors—which will include an ID with Olly James, “Revolution” with Maddix and Timmy Trumpet, and “Judgement Day”—Hardwell did disclose that we’d have to hold on until post-Ultra for his ID with Sub Zero Project.
