Honey & Badger, OOTORO complete two-year road to first-ever collaboration, ‘1949’
A meeting between two of Dancing Astronaut‘s Artists to Watch in 2022 had been a long time coming. Two years to be exact. But it’s 2023 and both Honey & Badger and OOTORO came to the eventual conclusion that they were able to finally close the studio door on their first-ever crossover. And the respective Belgian and Indonesian talents were able to find a home on BIJOU’s DND Recs—a longtime label for the former—and officially give “1949” its inevitable streaming go ahead.
It goes without saying that Honey & Badger and OOTORO stand at the artistic forefront of house music’s ongoing renaissance. And they hop in a time machine to travel back three quarters of a century to “1949,” delivering a nostalgic, disco-instilled infusion that links the new-age and old-school eras of French house while effortlessly merging both sides’ unfailingly refreshing identities. As if there were any doubt to begin with, “1949” emphatically signs “yes” on the question of whether or not it was worth two years of waiting.
