Verboten auctioned off to former Pacha NYC owner

In June, it was reported that Eddie Dean, the former owner of Pacha NYC, was placing a bid to buy Brooklyn’s Verboten nightclub, which was seized by New York state in March due to unpaid sales tax. The club’s previous owners, who had been linked to fraudulent checks and sexual harassment accusations in the lead up to the seizure, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April.

Dean’s bid of $1.2 million dollars beat out bids of $1.175 million and $850,000 from Michael Annunziata of Snap Music Group and Louis Puig of Space, respectively.

While the sale and transfer is still in its very early stages, there are some concerns over Dean’s purchase of Verboten. His former club Pacha closed down in January and had a distinctively different vibe than the more underground-leaning direction of Verboten’s previous management.
