Richie Hawtin stakes claim over newest, mystery Plus 8 release
John Acquaviva and Richie Hawtin‘s Plus 8 Records began what could be considered a label tradition in March of last year. A little known artist, testpilot, was ushered into the fold for the first release in what amounted to two calendar years. That artist turned out to be another Canadian, deadmau5, donning a brand new, unannounced alias.
In October, the imprint had another trick up its sleeve. A 12″ vinyl without an artist credited was released. Thanks to a new interview, it was revealed that one of the imprint’s founders, Richie Hawtin, was in fact behind the three-tracked vinyl. Plastikman, Childsplay and Robotman are the three monikers that the Canadian-born producer donned for the release, which was exclusively at Berlin’s Hard Wax Record shop. The release is currently sold out and no information has been given regarding whether or not it will ever hit a digital outlet in the near future.
