“Freedom, diversity, unity, love, revolution.” It’s been almost a year since Hardwell‘s first post-comeback appearance took place in Jerusalem, a night in which he extended the ID onslaught even further from the 15 tracks that would comprise Dancing Astronaut‘s 2022 Album of the Year in downtown Miami exactly two months prior. Mere hours after the set came to a finish, an ID popped up across Instagram that was quickly deciphered as a meeting between Hardwell, Maddix, and Timmy Trumpet. And with the one-week mark until Ultra officially arriving, the Revealed Recordings head honcho is now unlocking his fourth collaborative door—following ”Balança” with VINNE, “Twisted” with Will Sparks, and “Sloopkogel” with Quintino—with “Revolution.”

Similarly to “Sloopkogel,” Hardwell’s fourth EP delivery actually originated before he touched down at Bayfront Park in March of 2022, with an unfinished form of “Revolution” subtly appearing in sets from both Maddix and Timmy Trumpet towards the end of 2021. And “Revolution” isn’t exactly the first time that Hardwell has come in contact with either name, marking his third go-around with Maddix in 2023 alone—bumping their collaborative tally up to five total—and cementing a reunion with the latter after “The Underground” back in 2018. On “Revolution,” Hardwell, Maddix, and Timmy Trumpet cook up a melting pot of bigroom-techno on its front end and bigroom-trance on its backend, freely interweaving the traceable sounds of all three on a behemoth of a track that we can only hope falls somewhere during Hardwell’s hour in Miami on March 25.

With four of the six doors unlocked—with door number five set to open after Ultra on March 31—there’s only two remaining IDs left for Hardwell pull out keys for: one of his IDs with Olly James and one of Dancing Astronaut‘s most-anticipated IDs of 2023, “Judgement Day” with Sub Zero Project.
