In Four Seasons compilation, Paul Oakenfold curates music for each change in season
In honor of finishing up his year long Four Seasons live tour, dance music legend Paul Oakenfold has released a four disc compilation album aptly entitled "Four Seasons" on Armada Music. The concept is simple but universal; he's designed four distinct mixes for each season of the year. No matter where you are at a given time, if you're a trance lover, Oakenfold's got something for you. Much like his many, many Essential Mixes, he brings in an impressive range of sounds from every corner of the world to bring you along on an aural journey. We've listened through the compilation several times and picked out some favorites for you if you'd like to sample before you dive in all the way.
Gareth Emery at Governors Island: 5 tracks you need to know
After Blake Jarrel and Jerome Ismae set the tone with unsurpassed warm up sets, Gareth Emery drove it home with a nice mixture of house and trance -- pleasing fans on all fronts. The island seemed almost at capacity as a diverse crowd of fans unloaded one ferry ride at a time. After Emery's two and a half hour set came to close, Ben Gold took to the decks for an amazing closing session of hard-hitting trance.
‘Cream Ibiza’ mixed by Above & Beyond (album review)
If you simply you can't get enough Anjuna, then "Cream Ibiza, mixed by Above & Beyond" is everything you want it to be, a brilliant portrait of the label's recent successes. With appearances by Arty, Mat Zo, Andrew Bayer, Norin & Rad, Parker & Hanson, and Jaytech, it's a snapshot of Above & Beyond as they are in the summer of 2012 -- It's a little slice of trance 2.0, preserved forever. Oh, and Eric Prydz, Markus Schulz, and Jerome Isma-Ae feature, too.
