‘Starboy’ has been mashed up with the ‘Stranger Things’ theme
Upon its release last summer, Stranger Things became an immediate phenomenon. The show’s combination of reverent nostalgia and strong performances from its ensemble cast has left fans clamoring for any hint at what Season 2 will bring. The first glimpse unveiled during this year’s Super Bowl has anticipation at an all-time high.
While the show itself proved to be a monstrous hit, in some ways it was surpassed by its title theme and soundtrack. The vintage synths provided the perfect ominous, retro accompaniment for the show’s story and gained extended life in the form of remixes and even a concert unto itself. With Season 2 looming, The Weeknd is the latest to receive the Stranger Things-treatment. A Twitter user with the handle @ohhellojon uploaded a mashup originally created by @flipboitamidles of the crooner’s smash collaboration with Daft Punk “Starboy” over the show’s theme.

While few can match the French robot’s production abilities, the mash up is a fun diversion nonetheless, even going so far as to receive props from The Weeknd himself.
