Hardwell turns pair of Olly James collaborations into two-sided fifth door, ‘The Seduction’

For Hardwell‘s second to last door, he’s stepping through it with not one but two IDs. While everyone still attempts to digest his heart-stopping return to Bayfront Park—an Ultra appearance that many, including us, have hailed the prevailing performance of the weekend—exactly a year following his comeback, the man behind Revealed Recordings is picking back up where he left off right before Miami Music Week.

Four of the six collaborative doors had already been unlocked since the beginning of February—”Balança” with VINNE, “Twisted” with Will Sparks, and “Sloopkogel” with Quintino, and “Revolution” with Maddix and Timmy Trumpet—and Hardwell has seen through another long-overdue pairing to materialize the key to door number five, partnering up with longtime label veteran Olly James for their The Seduction EP.

Some may remember the EP’s title cut from Hardwell’s first post hiatus-ending appearance in Jerusalem back in May of 2022. Olly James quickly made it known as fan-recorded clips began making the rounds across Instagram and Twitter that the two had finally cooked up something together after years of James racking up a musical track record on Revealed. But the double-edged EP’s A-Side wouldn’t be the lone merger between them, with “Flatline” surfacing just over two months later when Hardwell shut down the inaugural evening of Tomorrowland’s first-ever—and last-ever—third weekend. And almost a year removed since the EP’s initial formation, the two are shedding the respective “Lose Yourself,” “Spaceman,” and “The Nights” mashup counterparts from Miami for the final instrumental form of “Seduction” and “Flatline.” Both tracks uncovered through Hardwell’s fifth door epitomize what a faultless convergence of bigroom-techno between him and Olly James could and should sound like, with each track having inflicted pure hysteria on the Bayfront Park crowd when Hardwell unleashed them both on the evening of March 25. With “Judgement Day” alongside Sub Zero Project—one of Dancing Astronaut‘s most-anticipated IDs of 2023 (although every ID included in Hardwell’s six doors is worth of that title)—now on the clock for a likely date of April 21, stream both “Seduction” and “Flatline” below.
